The Stephen King Challenge

Stephen King collection graphic

Come one, come all to this extraordinarily suicidal event.

Okay, so, in one of my introductory posts, I kinda said I would read the entirety of Stephen King’s bibliography. Looking back, I think I set myself up for failure. So, I decided to put a few restrictions on the challenge to make it fair for me.

So, here are the rules:

During 2014, I will read Mr. King’s novels. This does not include anthologies, series (I’m currently ruling out the Dark Tower and Green Mile books), collaborations with other writers (The Talisman), or comics. I will only read his works of fiction and only those in the horror genre. Each time I finish a book, I will cross it off the list. I will also write a short review of the book on my blog. Finally, I am going from his earliest work (Carrie) to his latest work as of the end of 2013 (Dr. Sleep).

Here’s the list (numbers in parentheses are page count):

  • Carrie (199)
  • ‘Salem’s Lot (439)
  • The Shining (447)
  • Rage (211)
  • The Stand (823)
